Internet Radio in N73

If you have either GPRS/EDGE/3G service activated then you can stream radio from the internet. Nokia developed an open source application for playing internet radio for the S60 3rd edition phones. As it is open source we can expect lot of enhancements in the near future.

For downloading the application visit http://opensource.nokia.com/projects/s60internetradio/ClientPage.html . A sample play list can be found there. You canĀ  add more by going to http://www.shoutcast.com. Search your favorite genre and click the “tune in” button. You will get a playlist (.pls file). You can also add more stations to the same play list file.

If you’re using GPRS connection then anything over a bitrate of 32 kbps will not be played smoothly. Go for a recommended bit rate of 24 kbps. It will give you average sound quality and smooth streaming without no pauses. If you have EDGE/3G then go for 96kbps or more.
